Our History

IMPLAS Indústria Mineira de Plásticos LTDA., founded in August 1955, is one of the most traditional plastic companies from Brazil, as it was the first plastic industry from the state of Minas Gerais. At the beginning of its operation it made thermal-fixed resin covers by pressing (Bakelite), after it added to its line of products accessories products for textile equipment. In 1957, IMPLAS started to diversify its products with the acquisition of its first injection machine, producing packaging and houseware. Five years after, the technology of polyamide (Nylon) production was developed. At this time, IMPLAS started supplying components for IMBEI, Brazilian Army Munitions Factory. In 1968, flasks by blowing were added to its line of products. The beginning of the `70s marked an expansion of its facilities and equipment, and a diversification of its products and markets. As a consequence, IMPLAS was, in 1974, the first and only company accredited by TELEBRÁS - the telecommunication state held company - to supply plastic parts for the standard telephone. The entrance to the telephone market demanded that IMPLAS sought, even more, technological development of the processes and products, as a basic requirement for supplying telecommunications companies. In this same decade, it began the development of the protection for the tube tip, answering the demand of the metallurgic manufacturers of seamless steel tubes. In 1995, IMPLAS started implanting the ISO 9002 rule aiming at new markets, and started supplying the car industry. Today, with the ISO 9001 - 2008 certification, IMPLAS acts as the manufacturer of technical parts with varied thermal plastic materials by the injection process, including diversity of engineering plastics resins, such as: ABS, Polyamide, Polycarbonate, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, SAN, etc. With the mission of being a company with technological solutions in moulded plastic, developing the product since its concept to the mould making and to the manufacturing of the part, IMPLAS acts in the most important sectors of the industrial market, such as: Car Industry, Electric-Electronic, Welding Equipment, Metallurgy, Telecommunications, among some.
